This is a practical course that is designed to provide new directors with a solid foundation in professional film directing. It is ideal for those with little or no experience of working on professional sets, as the course gives training in the standard practices on set and is structured in such a way that students have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the weekend.
Workshop exercises on the course include:
- Identifying the key dramatic beats of a scene from the script
- Rehearsal techniques with actors
- Communicating clearly and efficiently with your crew
- Camera placement for powerful storytelling
- Covering the scene so that it cuts together effectively
