On Friday, Martyn's cinematographers had an inside look at the ins and outs of stereography. After a little while of getting our heads around the basic principles and the dubious merits of 3D in modern Hollywood, Matt Smith, who has worked on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Jack the Giant Slayer (among others) introduced the group to the potential of 3D for drama and enhancing actors subtle micro-expressions.

Just being at historic Shepperton was very exciting, and while there wasn't an opportunity to cadge a job at the Alice in Wonderland shoot, there was plenty of time to try out the rig and learn the intricacies of setting up a stereo shoot that will draw the audience into the story, not give them headache.
