Inspired by the school’s new direction as the Academy of Intelligent Media, this course addresses the evolution of filmmaking in an environment where disruptive innovation is radically affecting existing business models in a wide range of industries. This course enables students to learn how to connect and communicate effectively with their audiences, using non-traditional tools and distribution channels.

Blending the use of traditional filmmaking techniques with emerging digital technology such as Immersive VR, shooting with drones and app development, students on this course will develop a comprehensive set of technical skills that will enable them to navigate the intersection of live action filmmaking, documentary production, social media and trans media production, as both a filmmaker and a producer.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Integrate web-based marketing and distribution strategies to a variety of film productions
  • Evaluate audience trends and adapt existing genres and formats for the web
  • Effectively incorporate new technology into existing production workflows
