Respect & Consideration
Central Film School is committed to fostering a learning environment free from bullying, intimidation, harassment or victimisation. All members of the academic community as well as our visitors are entitled to be treated with respect, consideration, dignity and courtesy.
Academic freedom and freedom of expression are supported by Central Film School and a core value is to encourage discourse and critique while respecting the beliefs and opinions of others.
We expect all students, tutors and staff to uphold these core values and to carry out activities fairly, honestly, openly and in compliance with all applicable laws. Those who do not may be put through our disciplinary procedures.
Complaints
Part of ensuring you are satisfied with your studies and experience at Central Film School, includes having a robust process for dealing with any concerns, dissatisfaction or complaints. We encourage feedback at all times and students should raise any concerns with a relevant staff member in the first instance. In the event that you are not satisfied with the response, there are ways to escalate your concerns. You can find out more about this in our Student Complaints Policy.
Student Engagement Policy & Attendance Procedure
Our Student Engagement Policy aims to reflect the nature of the industry and foster the necessary professional practice to help ensure future success as filmmakers, actors and screenwriters. The objective of our attendance policy is to ensure that, when students are employed in the industry, professionalism is their key attribute. Time management and planning are as vital for success as possessing technical skills and talent.
Regular reminders are sent to encourage students to think about their attendance and to take steps to improve it if they are dropping below 80%. Attendance at classes of at least 80% is our general expectation.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
Attendance requirements are linked to your visa status. Please note that if we have to take action against you for not attending, this can have serious implications for your visa. We are legally required to contact the UK Home Office if an International Student misses ten consecutive teaching sessions.
Prevention of Harassment & Sexual Misconduct Policy
Central Film School is committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive working and learning environment for all members of its community.
Harassment and sexual misconduct are unacceptable behaviours and will not be tolerated. These behaviours are contrary to various acts (Equality Act 2010, Protection from Harassment Act 1997, Workers Protection Act 2024) and Central Film School's vision, mission, and core values.
No member of the Central Film School community is expected to tolerate such unacceptable behaviour, whether from another member of the community, a supplier, visitor, or member of the public.
All students will be required to complete mandatory, interactive training on harassment and sexual misconduct, including consent, active bystander intervention, definitions of unacceptable behaviour, and reporting procedures. This training will be evidence-based and delivered by individuals with appropriate expertise.
