Student Voice

Students are encouraged to tell their story during their time at Central Film School and this includes shaping their own academic experience by providing feedback and engaging in the decision making process.

Student Representation and Student Council

Each cohort will select at least one of their peers to represent them during Student Council meetings and at the termly Courses Board and Academic Board.

The role of student representatives is to collect feedback during the term and delivery of modules and share this with their Course Leaders, the Director of Courses & Curriculum, and other necessary staff to enrich the student experience. This can be done informally, however, Student Representatives will be invited to meetings each term to provide feedback in a formal setting and have their say on updates to policies, procedures and module development.

Student Representatives are provided training and guidance to carry out their roles and can take on additional roles within the Student Council. These roles are decided by the council themselves. Current and previous roles include:

  • Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Events Officer
  • Student Wellbeing Officer
  • International Student Officer

Student Feedback

At the end of each term, all students are invited to complete a feedback form via Google Classroom on each of the modules studied and on specific aspects of their Student Experience. This feedback is then discussed at the monthly Student Experience Committee, the Quality & Registry Committee, and the Learning & Teaching Committee, where it informs the continuous course improvement of our Teaching and Learning, as well as the student experience as a whole.

National Student Survey

Nearly half a million students across the UK are invited to take part in the National Student Survey (NSS) every year.

The NSS is your opportunity to give your honest feedback about what it has been like to study on your course at your university or college. It is published every year and is a rich and influential source of information about higher education. The survey is a key component of the quality assurance and wider regulatory landscape in UK higher education.

As students, you have a powerful collective voice that will help shape the future of your course and your university/college for current and prospective students.
