As a student at Central Film School, there are many times when you will need to officially prove your student status. Whether you are setting up your student life in London or applying for specific benefits, an official student letter is often your passport to making things happen.
We want to make getting these documents as seamless as possible for you. Below, you will find everything you need to know about what these letters are used for and how you can request one.
Why might you need an official letter?
There are several everyday situations where an official Confirmation of Student Status or Council Tax letter is required:
- Council Tax Exemption: Full-time students are usually exempt from paying Council Tax. To apply for this discount or exemption through your local council, you will need to provide them with an official Council Tax letter from the school.
- Opening a Student Bank Account: Most high street banks offer specialised student accounts with excellent perks and interest-free overdrafts. To open one, banks invariably require formal evidence that you are enrolled on a qualifying course.
- Proving Your Status: You might need to confirm your student status for external organisations, such as private landlords, letting agencies, transport providers, or visa applications.
How to request your letter
Requesting a letter is straightforward. All you need to do is complete our online Letter Request Form, which you can find at the bottom of this page.
To help us process your request as quickly as possible, please ensure you include the following information:
- The Purpose of the Letter: Please clearly state what the letter will be used for (for example, a council tax exemption or opening a bank account) so that we can tailor the details correctly.
- Up-to-Date Personal Information: If any of your details have changed since you enrolled, such as a change of address or phone number, please let us know in the form so we can update our database and ensure your letter is completely accurate.
What happens next?
Once you submit the form, our Quality and Registry (QAR) team will review your request and prepare the document for you.
