Lost Property Procedure

A Guide to Reporting, Claiming, and Tracking Lost Belongings at CFS

Losing a personal item can be stressful, but the Central Film School (CFS) team is here to help you reunite with your missing belongings . To make the process as smooth as possible, we have established a clear system for reporting, claiming, and handling lost property at CFS.

How to Report a Lost Item

Registering your missing property immediately gives us the best chance of identifying it and returning it to you.

To report a lost item, please email hello@centralfilmschool.com with a detailed description. To help us help you, make sure to include as much information as possible:

  • Your Contact Information: Your full name and phone number.
  • Item Details: The title/name of the item and the date and approximate time it went missing.
  • Unique Identifiers: Any specific details that help us verify it belongs to you (e.g., the background image on a phone screen or a specific card inside a wallet).

📞 Urgent Enquiry? If your request is time-sensitive, please contact the Reception Desk directly at 02073776060.

Claiming Your Property

If your item has been found, you can collect it from the Reception Desk at 72 Landor Road . Collection hours are Monday through Friday, 09:00 – 17:30.

To successfully reclaim your property, please ensure you can provide:

  1. A detailed description of the item(s).
  2. The date the item was reported lost.
  3. Valid proof of ID (usually your CFS ID Card).

Found Something?

If you happen to find unattended property in the building, please hand it in to the Reception Desk as soon as possible so we can track down the owner .

Please note that for health and safety reasons, any spoiled or unhygienic items will be disposed of immediately. This includes:

  • Unhygienic clothing
  • Damp or wet towels
  • Food items

Unclaimed Items & Retention Policy

CFS holds onto lost property for one month before taking further action. If an item remains unclaimed after 28 days, it is processed securely and responsibly depending on the item type:

Item Type Final Action
Bank Cards Safely shredded
Drivers Licences Returned to the DVLA
Passports / Identity Cards Returned to the Home Office or relevant embassy
Confidential Devices (Phones, tablets, USBs) Securely disposed of in compliance with data protection laws
All Other Items Donated to a registered charity or kept for the props department
