What is the 18+ Student Oyster Photocard?

As a full-time student living and studying in London, commuting can quickly add up. Fortunately, Transport for London (TfL) offers an 18+ Student Oyster photocard. This card allows you to travel across the city’s extensive transport network—including the Tube, buses, trams, DLR, London Overground, and Elizabeth line—at discounted rates, helping you keep your travel costs manageable while you study.

Am I Eligible for the Discount?

To apply for an 18+ Student Oyster card, you must be a full-time student aged 18 or over. Your school, college, or university must also be registered with the TfL scheme.

What Do I Need Before Applying?

To ensure your online application goes smoothly, please have the following information and documents ready:

• An Active Email Address: You will need this to register your account and receive confirmation updates.
• Your Student Enrolment ID: This is your unique student identification number provided by us and available on your physical ID card.
• A London Borough Address: You must provide a valid address within a London borough.
• A Digital Photo: A clear, passport-style photograph of yourself. 

How Do I Apply?

Applying is quick and can be done entirely online by following these steps:

1. Submit Your Application: Visit the official Transport for London portal to complete your online application via the TfL Student Oyster photocard application link

2. Institutional Approval: Once you submit your application, it will automatically be sent to the team here via the TfL portal. They will check your details to verify your full-time student status.

3. Receive Your Card: As soon as we approve the application, TfL will process it and post your new 18+ Student Oyster photocard directly to the London address you provided.
