Transferring to Central Film School

Transfer from another Institution

Thinking about transferring to Central Film School? Whether you’re changing direction, relocating, or looking for a more hands-on film education, we welcome transfer students from a wide range of academic and creative backgrounds.

At Central Film School, you’ll learn in an industry-focused environment, gaining practical experience from day one. Our courses are taught by working professionals and designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and portfolio you need to succeed in the screen industries.

Who Can Transfer?

You may be able to transfer to Central Film School if you:

  • Are currently studying, or have previously studied, a relevant course at another university or film school

  • Wish to join Level 5 or Level 6 of one of our BA degree programmes

  • Can demonstrate relevant academic study, creative experience, or a strong creative portfolio

Every application is reviewed individually to make sure the course and level are the right fit for you.

Start Dates

We offer the following start dates for transfer students:

  • Level 5 entry: Starts 11 May 2026

  • Level 6 entry: Starts 19 January 2026

How to Apply

Transfer students can apply directly through the Central Film School website.

As part of your application, you may be asked to submit:

  • Academic transcripts from your current or previous institution

  • An Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) form (our Admissions Team will provide guidance on this)

  • A sample of your creative work

You’ll also take part in a short, virtual interview with a member of our team - this is simply an opportunity for us to learn more about you.

Credit Transfer

To be eligible to transfer, you’ll need to have completed the following, depending on the level you’re applying for:

Transfer into Level 5
You must have successfully completed a Level 4 / HNC year at university, with 120 credits / 60 ECTS, at your previous institution.

Transfer into Level 6
You must have successfully completed a Level 5 / HND year at university, with 240 credits / 120 ECTS, at your previous institution.
