Learn from industry-active tutors who provide valuable insights and help you reach a professional level of expertise. The course fosters your ability to navigate the evolving media landscape and meet industry standards.

Collaborative projects and research enhance your understanding of cultural and industrial requirements in your chosen sector, and in your final year, you’ll undertake a comprehensive major project that demonstrates your mastery of the skills acquired throughout the course.

This project also encourages critical analysis and engagement with the development of feature film scripts.

Key skills you’ll develop:

  • Advanced critical thinking for screen storytelling
  • Narrative design and structure
  • Pitching and marketing your work
  • Feature film scriptwriting
  • Script analysis
  • Script development and editing
  • A minimum of at least a 2.2 honours degree, in a relevant field.

  • Mature students (over 23) who have relevant industry experience, but do not meet our entry criteria, are encouraged to apply.

  • Students not from a Majority English Speaking country will need IELTS 6.0 overall (no less than 5.5 in any band) or equivalent.

  • All applicants must submit a creative work sample and personal statement with their application. This creative work sample should consist of a short script (a minimum of 5-7 pages). 

  • Applicants for this course will be invited to attend a virtual interview.

MA Screenwriting graduates pursue various career paths within the Television, Film, and Theatre industries. These include roles such as Screenwriter, Scriptwriter, Script Reader, Editor, Story Liner, Story Producer, Drama Development Executive, Assistant, Editor, Producer, and Film Critic.

Additionally, graduates can explore opportunities beyond these sectors and find work in Journalism, Video Game narrative design, and as Podcast Content Creators.
